It’s time for the NY Giants and Joe Schoen to really get going with their NFL Draft prep. For a lot of fans, this is the best part of the offseason.  In his first year leading the charge, general manager Joe Schoen appeared to make all the right moves.

Between adding Evan Neal and Kayvon Thibodeaux in the first round last spring, to grabbing Dane Belton and Daniel Bellinger in the fourth, Schoen made a lot of amazing picks. Now, he’ll hope to have a repeat performance in 2023.

In our latest mock draft, we have Schoen and the Giants front office trading up to add a game-changing wide receiver. They will do this by sending the 25th overall selection, and their fourth-round pick, No. 128 overall, to the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for their No. 20 overall pick. Why is this big?

Because the Ravens are also in need of a wideout and they hold the No. 22 overall selection. We think the Giants will jump in front of them to get their guy and ruin Baltimore’s first-round plans.

NY Giants Round 1 pick: USC WR Jordan Addison

With their first selection of the 2023 NFL Draft, the Giants will add USC wide receiver Jordan Addison. Addison could look to be the perfect addition to the Giants offense. During his time at both Pitt and USC, he made his presence felt. And at times, he looked to be one of the most dominant pass-catchers in the nation.

During the 2021 campaign, Addison put up incredible numbers. In his final season at Pitt, he appeared in 14 total games. Over these appearances, he recorded 100 receptions for 1,593 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns. On the ground, he added 56 rushing yards and one touchdown,

Upon his arrival at USC, Addison once again put up strong numbers. While dealing with injuries, he still managed to take the field in 11 games. In doing so, he recorded 59 receptions for 875 receiving yards and eight touchdowns.

Addison is the type of receiver that any team in the NFL could use. By trading up, the Giants could look to add this game-changer to their offense.

NY Giants Round 2 pick: Maryland CB Deonte Banks

The Giants have a need at the cornerback position. Apart from Adoree’ Jackson, the group struggled to be productive. By adding Maryland’s Deonte Banks, this defense could add an immediate starter. During his four seasons at Maryland, Banks showed legitimate upside. In total, he took the field in 29 total games. He recorded 83 total tackles, 61 solo tackles, two interceptions, and 11 defended passes.

In his final season, Banks played the best football of his career. Over 12 games, he recorded 38 total tackles, 25 solo tackles, eight defended passes, and one interception.

Banks would immediately improve the Giants secondary. With his arrival, the group would be gaining a player who has the potential to become a legitimate CB1. He also has a style that would fit perfectly in this Wink Martindale-led defense.

NY Giants Round 3 pick: Oregon LB Noah Sewell

During this past season, arguably the weakest piece of the Giants defense was the linebacker group. In turn, the group looked to midseason additions to find production. By drafting Oregon’s Noah Sewell, the Giants would be adding a high-volume tackler who can make plays all over the field.

Over his three collegiate seasons, Sewell regularly stuffed the stat sheet. In total, he recorded 105 solo tackles, 218 total tackles, 20.5 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, nine defended passes, and three interceptions.

The Giants attempted to address linebacker in last year’s draft. This led to them adding both Micah McFadden and Darrian Beavers. McFadden showed moments of promise, but unfortunately, Beavers missed the entire season with a torn ACL. A trio of McFadden, Beavers and Sewell could have legitimate upside. And it could be exactly what this linebacker core needs to get back on track.

NY Giants Round 3 pick: Andrew Vorhees OG USC

Another major need that the Giants must address is the interior of their offensive line. With both Jon Feliciano and Nick Gates set to be free agents, this group is in need of help. With the 100th pick of the draft, they could look to take USC guard Andrew Vorhees.

During his time at USC, Vorhees was dominant on the interior. In his final season, he took the field for 720 total snaps. Over this time, he allowed just two sacks and 12 total hurries. Along with this, he posted a PFF grade of 81.9.

Vorhees has risen to success while playing primarily left guard, but he has also taken significant reps at left tackle. With his addition, the Giants could add much-needed depth along the offensive line, while also gaining an immediate starter.

NY Giants Round 5 pick: Jonathan Mingo WR Ole Miss

With the addition of Addison, the Giants have already addressed the wide receiver room. But for a team in search of depth at the position, taking another pass-catcher is something they should do. Ole Miss wide receiver Jonathan Mingo could be an intriguing option for the team.

At 6-2 and 215 pounds, Mingo could be the big target that this offense has been in search of. Along with his size, he also brings speed that leads him to be a vertical threat.

During his time at Ole Miss, Mingo was inconsistent with his play. Over his first three seasons, he never surpassed 380 receiving yards. This past season, Mingo managed to find his footing and his numbers reflected this. In total, he recorded 51 receptions for 861 receiving yards and six total touchdowns while playing in 13 total games.

Mingo was a standout at the Senior Bowl, which could ultimately lead to him rising up draft boards. But if he is available in the fifth round, he should be the easy selection for this Giants offense. A wide receiver room of Addison, Mingo, Wan’Dale Robinson and Isaiah Hodgins could be a solid core. Sterling Shepard could be on his way back too.

NY Giants Round 6 pick: Kendre Miller RB TCU

Saquon Barkley’s future with the Giants is still unknown. But regardless of how the situation plays out, the team must add to their backfield. With the addition of TCU’s Kendre Miller, they will add a running back who has all the makings of a legitimate RB1.

During his time at TCU, Miller developed into a force out of the backfield. Over his first two seasons, he took the field in 19 total games and carried the ball a total of 137 times. In total, he recorded 1,011 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns. Through the air, he added 113 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown.

Heading into the 2022 season, Miller had the biggest role of his collegiate career. In this expanded role, he dominated. On the way to TCU making a trip to the National Championship Game, Miller carried the ball a total of 224 times. He finished the season recording 1,399 rushing yards and 17 rushing touchdowns. Through the air, he added 16 receptions and 116 receiving yards.

Between his size and speed, Miller can give any opposing defense a problem. When looking at the modern running back, he fits the mold. Sliding him into this Giants offense as the backup running back could give this group an elite one-two punch.

NY Giants Draft Round 6 pick: Dee Winters LB TCU

With their second pick of the sixth round, the Giants will be adding yet another member of the 2022 TCU team. This time, it comes with the addition of an explosive linebacker in Dee Winters. During his four seasons at TCU, Winters regularly found ways to make a big play. Over this time, he racked up 246 total tackles, 33.5 tackles for loss, 12.5 total sacks, and three interceptions.

This past season, Winters played the best football of his career. He finished his collegiate career recording 79 total tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, and one interception. Those are some impressive stats.

With his speed, Winters has the ability to move around the defense. He has found success both rushing the passer and dropping into coverage. He could come in and produce for this Giants defense from day one.

NY Giants Round 7 pick: Alex Forsyth C Oregon

During his time at Oregon, center Alex Forsyth established himself as one of the nation’s best interior offensive linemen. With his experience across the line, he could bring depth to several different positions. Forsyth could also develop into a starter at the next level. Given time, he could take over the lead duties at the center position.

NY Giants Round 7 pick: Jay Ward DB LSU

While at LSU, defensive back Jay Ward proved to be one of the most versatile defensive backs in the SEC. He has spent significant time at cornerback and safety, which could lead to him being a solid addition to any defense.

In total, Ward left LSU with a total of 162 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, six interceptions, and 17 defended passes. He is a proven member of the secondary that could very well develop into a key piece of this Giants defense.

NY Giants Round 7 pick: Taron Vincent DT Ohio State

With the final pick of their 2023 draft class, the Giants will add Ohio State defensive tackle Taron Vincent. In recent seasons, the Giants have put together a defensive line full of elite weapons. In the middle, Dexter Lawrence has cemented himself as one of the best tackles in the NFL. But the depth behind him has been troublesome.

While Vincent isn’t projected to be an every-down defender, he is expected to be a key contributor against the run. If the Giants are looking for a solid rotational piece, Vincent could be just that and be a late-round steal.
