Could either of these guys be the one to finally put the nightmare linebacker player behind the organization once and for all? With NY Giants general manager Joe Schoen working overtime this week at the NFL Combine, he’s going to be meeting with countless playmakers who could end up donning a Big Blue uniform.

Already, Schoen has met with Arkansas linebacker Drew Sanders, who many believe could end up hearing his name called in the late first round. Sanders started his career at Alabama, but then made his way to Arkansas. He was a monster on defense for the Razorbacks in 2022.

On top of that, the Giants have also met with Clemson’s Trenton Simpson, widely considered the top inside LB prospect for his class.

Starting with Sanders, goodness, this guy is a beast. This past season, the 6-5, 232-pounder posted 103 total tackles and 9.5 sacks. Whenever he’d make his way into the backfield, it really looked like Sanders was shot out of a cannon. He’s got impressive speed making his way to both the quarterback and running back.

As for Simpson, he’s another great talent and he seemed excited when discussing his meeting with the Giants. Simpson recorded 73 total tackes. 2.5 sacks and two forced fumbles in ’22. Checking in at 6-3, 240 pounds, the Clemson superstar is quite electric and has an amazing amount of potential as well.

With the Giants holding the No. 26 overall pick, a lot of people are hoping that Schoen selects a wide receiver to help out the offense. However, he could end up going with an interior offensive lineman or a standout ‘backer instead. Sanders and Simpson would both be intriguing options and players Wink Martindale would surely enjoy coaching up.

Again, there’s a lot of needs for this team on both sides of the ball, but if either Sanders or Simpson is still there for the taking at pick No. 26 overall, then Schoen may have no choice but to send their name in.
