For yet another week, the NY Giants won't be able to count on quarterback Daniel Jones to lead the offense out onto the field on Sunday. On Friday when speaking to the press, head man Brian Daboll officially ruled out Danny Dimes for the matchup with the New York Jets.

However, that's not the entire story here. Daboll was asked if Jones, who will now miss three games in a row due to his neck injury, will be able to return at some point this season. Daboll sure sounded less convinced than he has in the past. Is this a cause for concern for Big Blue Nation?

Daniel Jones ruled out for Week 8 is another disappointment for the signal-caller

Daboll seems a bit annoyed with all the Jones questions, but can you blame reporters for asking? The real issue here is that Daboll doesn't seem convinced that his $160 million quarterback will be back in action soon.

Jones originally went down in Week 5 against the Miami Dolphins when he was ROCKED on a sack. Jones has been back on the practice field since last week as a limited participant, but he's yet to be cleared by team doctors for full contact.

The former No. 6 overall pick has looked positive in interviews and is saying that he's feeling better, but this is his second serious neck injury since 2021. That campaign, Jones missed the final six games of the year. This is becoming a major problem for the G-Men.

The Giants took a bit of a risk in giving him his massive extension this offseason and with Jones' injury, combined with his inconsistent play during his first five games of '23, it's already looking like a major L for general manager Joe Schoen. The more time Jones misses, the higher the chances will be that Tyrod Taylor will remain the starter for the rest of the fall and winter. This is not good for the Giants at all.
