This isn't the kind of news that the NY Giants fanbase was hoping to see in late March. With it being reported that the Giants don't have a multi-year offer on the table for star running back Saquon Barkley, you know No. 26 can't be too happy right now.

However, from our chair, it's his agents that he should be upset with and not Joe Schoen. Regardless of that, it's completely up in the air if Barkley will report for the offseason program or not. When asked if he expects Barkley to be present, head coach Brian Daboll said he's unsure. He also directed any questions about how Barkley is feeling for the RB himself.

The NY Giants pulled their offer for running back Saquon Barkley

With the Giants placing the non-exclusive franchise tag on Barkley, he's set to make $10.1 million this upcoming season. However, keep in mind that Schoen and the Giants reportedly offered Barkley around $12 million per campaign in a new deal, but he and his agents turned it down.

At the NFL Combine, Schoen said that he and Barkley's reps were still working to get something done, but that there was still 'a gap' in the contract talks. Since then, the Giants have spent quite a bit of money, highlighted by the four-year, $40 million deal for stud linebacker Bobby Okereke.

Barkley was reportedly eyeing around $14-15 million per season, but with the way the RB market has been set, there was no way Schoen was going to make that happen for him. Now, NY seems happy to let him play on the tag, but Saquon isn't excited about that at all. The closer we get to offseason workouts, the more we'll know about Barkley, but it wouldn't be a surprise at all to see him skip things.
