To start the week, NY Giants fans were hoping for some good news regarding the coaching staff. There was supposed to be a new defensive coordinator in place by now, but instead, no hire has been made and Brian Daboll has another hole to fill among his group of assistants.

On Monday morning, Football Scoop reported that tight ends coach Andy Bischoff is leaving East Rutherford to join Jim Harbaugh with the Los Angeles Chargers. This move feels like it has come from out of nowhere and it only adds to the big group of coaches who have already bolted.

Giants TEs coach Andy Bischoff will join Jim Harbaugh's staff with the Chargers

Harbaugh is already proving to be a pain in the rear for Giants Nation. Recently, former first-round pick Ryan Left predicted on Good Morning Football that Harbaugh will have Saquon Barkley at the top of his wish list in free agency. First we had to see that news, but now this?

The 53-year-old Bischoff joined Daboll at MetLife Stadium in 2022, spending the past two seasons with the team coaching up the tight ends. This of course included Darren Waller and Daniel Bellinger this past campaign.

While Bischoff has never worked with Harbaugh, he was on his brother John Harbaugh's staff in Baltimore from 2015-20. As Football Scoop noted, this move will reunite Bischoff with new Chargers offensive coordinator Greg Roman - the two were on staff together in Baltimore.

With Bischoff on his way out, Daboll will now look to find a replacement as soon as possible. However, DC still feels like it's a priority for Coach Dabes and general manager Joe Schoen. With the G-Men missing out on their top targets to lead the NY defense in 2024 last week, this Bischoff news feels like another gut punch that no one wanted to feel. When it rains it pours.
