It really felt like this game was over before it even started. After the NY Giants suffered a 40-0 loss to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1, Big Blue Nation was hoping that this team would show some fight in Week 10 in the 2023 rematch.

That wasn't the case. At halftime, Dallas was up 28-0 and they had no issues getting the job done, closing things out with a 49-17 win over the G-Men. NY is now 2-8 on the year and people have seen enough. We've got our takeaways from the action, and it's dominated by negative emotions:

4. Brian Daboll had an afternoon to forget

It wasn't that long ago that head man Brian Daboll was a rockstar all over New York and New Jersey. Now, though, it feels like people are starting to turn on him and Sunday's result against Dallas has only made things worse. Daboll's day got started in brutal fashion, with him throwing the challenge flag on an obvious call that should have never been questioned - it cost NY an early timeout.

In the grand scheme of things, this mistake from Daboll didn't lose the game for the Giants, but come on, what in the world was he thinking about making this decision? People were ripping him for it on social media and rightfully so. Unfortunately, that wasn't the only head-scratcher from Coach Dabes on the day.

We have to bring up the 4th-down call where the Giants were deep in Dallas territory after a Cor'Dale Flott interception. Instead of taking the points or even throwing the ball, a run to Saquon Barkley was called. Barkley was stuffed and no one was happy. In the end, this was all on Daboll and it only gave the Dallas defense even more confidence for the rest of the contest.

3. The Giants can't go 15 minutes without suffering a concerning injury

As has been the case throughout the year, injuries kept piling up for the Giants against Dallas. In the first half, hearts dropped to the floor when Andrew Thomas went down with what looked to be a serious knee injury. Thankfully, after he was carted back to the locker room, Thomas was just fine and was able to return to action.

However, later on in the action, star pass-rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux got injured on a play and he was ruled out for the rest of the contest with a concussion. With the lack of depth at pass-rusher, this was bad news for Wink Martindale. Things were only made worse with Deonte Banks injuring his ankle. Because of this, Tre Hawkins III came into action and Dallas made NY pay:

Yup, that was a perfect throw and catch for the Cowboys. Banks, the No. 24 overall pick in last April's NFL Draft, has been stellar this year, so the hope is that he won't miss extended time. The same can be said for Thibodeaux, who has been great in his second campaign. With the season being a lost cause, though, there shouldn't be any rush to get them back before they're fully ready.

2. Giants players are beyond frustrated with the way the season is going

Fans are sick and tired of the Giants getting blown out and we don't have to tell you that the players are upset too. After the loss to the Raiders last weekend, Xavier McKinney blasted the staff in surprising fashion. On the sidelines against the Cowboys, there was a clear disconnect between some guys and the coaches.

After he was stuffed on 4th down, an animated Barkley was spotted having a fiery conversation with Daboll. Then later in the action, veteran wide receiver Darius Slayton was livid with how things were going on offense. He and Sterling Shepard were in a heated conversation of their own:

That really just tells you everything you need to know about how things are going for the Giants. At this point in the season, the expectation was that this team would be making a lot of noise in the NFC East and be in a position to get ready for the playoffs. Instead, the tank talk is on and it's going to be that way over the next two months.

1. The Cowboys owned the Giants this year and we hate to admit it

It's one thing to lose to a team in this kind of fashion, but it sucks the life out of you when it happens twice to one of your biggest rivals. Giants fans hate the Cowboys. In the two games this year, Dallas outscored New York 89-17. That's nothing short of embarrassing and Dallas fans trolling New York only makes things worse.

Hey, they have every right to do so. We hate to admit it, but Dallas has dominated NY this season and they're not even breaking a sweat in doing so. The Week 1 result was a gut punch, but what we saw on Sunday somehow has sunk people even lower. The offense wasn't able to move the ball and Tommy DeVito, the No. 3 QB, was quite underwhelming in his first-career start.

The defense getting lit up by Dallas was a joke too. They gve up 49 points? Dak Prescott tossed for 404 yards and four touchdowns, with CeeDee Lamb (11 receptions for 151 yards and a TD and a rushing score) and Brandin Cooks (173 yards and one TD) being brilliant too. In total, six different Cowboys scored. Puke.

There was a three-week stretch where Wink Martindale had his unit looking fantastic, but the wheels have fallen off in the past two weeks. Next up for the Giants will be a road showdown with Washington, but the fanbase has little to no hope that this team will even be competitive.
