Another close win for the NY Giants? You better believe it! Once again, it looked like the Giants were going to potentially lose a heartbreaker, as the Patriots were driving late in the action. However, their attempt to try and force overtime on a field goal went wide left and NY was able to escape with a 10-7 win.

This wasn't a pretty victory at all, but hey... a win is a win. The offense was a bit sluggish, but the same can't be said for the defense. In this piece, we have our takeaways from the action, which includes our thoughts on a quarterback who should be benched for the rest of 2023:

4. Mac Jones can never start another NFL game again

To start things off, we're focusing on the Patriots and their nightmare at the quarterback position. You thought things were bad for the Giants there? Mac Jones, in stunning fashion, was given the start by Bill Belichick and it's a decision he should have never made. Jones has been terrible this year and fans had been calling for him to hit the bench.

Jones had a first half to forget against the Giants, throwing two interceptions. The first came when rookie Deonte Banks made him pay for a big mistake. Then in the second quarter, with the Pats driving, Jones tried to make something happen, but a terrible throw ended up in the hands of Bobby Okereke. What was this from the former first-round pick?

At halftime, Jones was then benched by Belichick in favor of Bailey Zappe. Jones has been getting blasted on social media for his poor play and people aren't going to let up soon. At this point, the Pats simply have no reason to let him start moving forward. He's a liability with the ball in his hands. He should never start another game for this team again.

3. Jalin Hyatt continues to take advantage of his reps

For a while now, fans have been calling for rookie third-round pick Jalin Hyatt to get more targets for this offense. His usage has been a bit of a disappointment this season, but Hyatt was able to turn plenty of heads in this one. On the day, Hyatt finished with five receptions for 109 yards against a stingy Pats defense.

Hyatt's day was no question highlighted by the fantastic catch seen below. On 3rd-and-16, DeVito tossed a ball DEEP downfield for Hyatt. This was a dime from Tommy D, with Hyatt not only able to come down with the ball, but he was also able to get both feet down. Seriously, this was quite the play from him:

With his fantastic speed, Hyatt has the potential to really be a game-changer for Big Blue. As we mentioned, his usage hasn't been what a lot of people were hoping for this season, but he's able to impress whenever given a shot to make something happen. For the rest of the campaign, we most definitely want to see Hyatt keep getting more time on Sundays. This kid is a stud.

2. The Giants defense came up huge once again

After what the Giants were able to get done against the Commanders on defense, Big Blue supporters were hopeful that a repeat performance would be recorded. That's exactly what happened, as the Giants were able to intercept Jones twice in the first half, while they also made Zappe look rough too.

In the fourth quarter, a Xavier McKinney interception helped set up the go-ahead field goal for the G-Men. At that time, the score was tied 7-7, but NY was able to go up 10-7. With Dexter Lawrence out with a hamstring injury, there was worry that New England's QBs would have more than enough time to make magic happen, but that wasn't the case.

Kayvon Thibodeaux was a beast on the outside, with guys in the secondary looking brilliant too. Banks had the first interception of the day, which is only going to give him more confidence moving forward. Banks is in the middle of an incredible debut season in the league, with the No. 24 overall pick getting better as the year goes on.

1. It wasn't pretty, but the Giants deserved this win

As has been the case for their other wins, the Giants didn't dominate by any means, but they were able to make the plays needed late to capture another close victory. DeVito was far from perfect, but he was able to make some great throws and he took care of the football, not tossing any interceptions. That's big for the youngster.

Also, we've got to give some love to Isaiah Hodgins. He's been pretty much a ghost this year, but he was able to record the lone TD of the day for the Giants. On a short DeVito throw, Hodgins created enough seperation to get by a Patriots defensive back and then he would not be denied for his second score of the fall.

That was a monster play from Hodgins, no doubt about that. With the victory, the Giants are now 4-8 on the season and they've posted back-to-back victories for the first time since 2022. Next up for Brian Daboll and Co. is a Monday Night Football meeting with the Green Bay Packers in Week 14 - NY will be on a BYE next week.
