For the first time in a while, the New York Giants running backs room will look a lot different in 2024. Big Blue drafted Saquon Barkley with their No. 2 overall pick in 2018 and he made an immediate impact on the Giants on offense. In his six seasons in New York, the former Nittany Lion had over 1,000 yards on the ground in three of those seasons with his best season on the ground happening in 2022 where he rushed for over 1,300 yards and 10 touchdowns.

With Barkley now gone, their running backs room will now feature newcomer Devin Singletary who the Giants gave a three-year deal to, and most likely second-year man, Eric Gray. Despite Singletary showing flashes of being a strong running back, and Gray also having his moments during his rookie season, Pro Football Focus is not too high on the New York Giants running backs room this year.

PFF ranks the Giants running back room one of the NFL's worst this season

Pro Football Focus recently came out with a ranking of the NFL's best running backs rooms and they did not give the Giants any love in their rankings. They ranked the Giants' running backs room 28th in the NFL with the Denver Broncos, Cincinnati Bengals, Las Vegas Raiders and Dallas Cowboys worse than Big Blue. Yes, losing Barkley will leave a huge hole for the Giants on offense as he's one of the best running backs in the NFL when healthy.

Even though he hasn't put up a 1,000-yard season in his five years in the NFL thus far, Singletary still has rushed for 800 yards or more in his last three years and is coming off a career-high in rushing yards with 898 yards. He can be a key contributor for this team.

The Giants will look different on offense for sure without Barkley, but Singletary and Gray will have the chance to silence all critics. Don't forget about Tyrone Tracy Jr. too, as the 2024 draftee will hope to make some noise as well.
