At the end of the month, the NY Giants will be, unless something changes, picking at No. 6 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft. There are needs on both sides of the ball, but the belief is that general manager Joe Schoen will be rockin' with an offensive playmaker in the first round.

Whether it be a quarterback or wide receiver remains to be seen. This of course is not the first time the Giants have been on the clock at No. 6, as 2024 will mark the fifth time in franchise history they've been in that spot. As most of you remember, the last time New York was up at No. 6, Daniel Jones heard his name called.

Daniel Jones was taken No. 6 overall by the NY Giants in 2019

Out of Duke, Jones saw his stock skyrocket during that offseason and he was viewed as the long-term replacement for Eli Manning, who powered the Giants to two Super Bowl wins. Jones helped NY get to the postseason in 2022, earning him a $160 million extension.

However, that's been the lone bright spot for Jones and now it's up in the air if he's going to be the signal-caller of this team past the 2024 campaign. Should the Giants move up in the draft for a quarterback, it will tell us that Jones' time in East Rutherford could come to a close next offseason. Jones had potential, but NY bringing him to town has proven to be an ugly decision.

Before taking Jones at No. 6 in 2019, the Giants previously drafted from that position in 1946, 1947 and 1948, going with fullback Steve Filipowicz, running back George Franck and running back Billy Hillenbrand, respectively.

Now, Schoen has a big decision to make in 2024. There's an outside chance a top QB option could fall to No. 6. From our chair, we'd think if anyone was to fall out of the Top 5, it'd be North Carolina's Drake Maye. However, if all the QB targets are off the board, then a new WR1 for Jones would be an easy call for Schoen.

Guys like Malik Nabers, Rome Odunze and even Marvin Harrison Jr. have been linked to the Giants. Harrison could be the first wideout taken, which would leave either Nabers or Odunze for New York. Schoen could not go wrong with either pick, but after his performance at the LSU Pro Day, a lot of people think Nabers could be the kind of electric playmaker that could help Jones turn things around next season. Either way, people can't wait to see what NY decides once April 25 gets here, but if it's Nabers or Odunze, we'd be confident in already saying it'd be a great move.
