With the NY Giants at 2-8 on the season, coming off a 49-17 loss to the Cowboys, plenty of you out there are ready to throw the towel in on 2023. With that said, countless fans are already focused on the 2024 NFL Draft, where a new quarterback figures to be a priority for Joe Schoen.

Will the Giants end up drafting Caleb Williams, Drake Maye or Michael Penix Jr. in the first round? Well, maybe there's a different signal-caller who could be running the offense down the road. In a new NFL Mock Draft, Pro Football Focus has the Giants taking South Carolina's Spencer Rattler in the fourth round next April. Excuse us?

The Giants drafting Spencer Rattler would set the franchise back 30 years

"He has improved enough to deserve a shot at an NFL job. The Giants would be wise to invest in a developmental quarterback with the starting-caliber potential to play behind Daniel Jones next season — that is, of course, if they don’t take one in the first round to replace him immediately."
PFF's Trevor Sikkema

In this mock draft, Trevor Sikkema has the Giants and Schoen focusing on the line in the first round, with Big Blue taking Penn State offensive tackle Olumuyiwa Fashanu at No. 4 overall. Andrew Thomas is locked in at left tackle, but Evan Neal simply isn't getting the job done at right tackle.

Could head man Brian Daboll end up moving him to guard next season? Who knows. If the Giants do have a Top 5 pick, the hope is that they'll go after Williams or Maye. As things stand, the Giants are projected to have the No. 2 overall pick in '24, but if they start winning some games, their spot could drop.

With Daniel Jones suffering his torn ACL, coupled with his rough play this season, it feels like his days as QB1 for this team are numbered. There's going to be a ton of pressure on Schoen and Daboll to get things right in the '24 draft, with Williams and Maye being high-profile guys who could bring needed excitement to East Rutherford. Rattler would do the opposite of that.
