With the NY Giants 2023 schedule being released recently, we now know when Big Blue will be in action for each and every contest. Compared to last season, this schedule is significantly more difficult and is full of challenging games for the Giants.
Regardless, we're confident in the Giants' ability to come out of 2023 with another successful season under their belt. While they face some difficult opponents, if the Giants can win these five crucial games, then we could see another 9+ win season for the G-Men:
5. NY Giants Week 8 vs. Jets
The battle of New York this year is going to be an incredible one. For the first time in years, both the Jets and Giants are looking like two successful teams set to potentially make the playoffs. Not only will this game be exciting to watch, but it's also smack-dab in the middle of the season.
Both teams play at MetLife Stadium, however, the Giants have been deemed as the home team and it's something they must take advantage of. They absolutely cannot allow the Jets to come in and become the dominant team in that stadium.
With the addition of Aaron Rodgers, alongside the progression of players like Garrett Wilson, Sauce Gardner, and Quinnen Williams, this Jets team is not one to take lightly. Regardless, we're still incredibly confident in the Giants' ability to come out with a win.
Not only would this team be huge for the Giants' standing in New York sports, but it could have major implications for the second half of their season. One thing is for sure, this will be one of the most anticipated matchups between the two teams in their history as state rivals.
4. NY Giants Week 18 vs. Eagles
Depending on how the Giants' season goes, this game could have major or no implications at all on their postseason odds, hence why it's not too high on our list. Regardless, any game against the Eagles is a must-win event for the Giants.
While the Eagles are still certainly a team to fear, they did lose a good amount of noteworthy players alongside their offensive and defensive coordinators. There is a very real chance we see New York get their first win against their biggest rivals for the first time since 2021.
Taking down the Eagles, a team that made the Super Bowl last year, in the final game of the regular season could do wonders for the Giants' momentum entering the playoffs. Even if New York surprisingly isn't in playoff contention around that time period, there aren't many better ways to end a season than spoiling Philadelphia's end of the year.
3. NY Giants Week 3 vs. 49ers
On paper, a random Week 3 matchup against the 49ers shouldn't have too much effect on the outcome of the season for the Giants. However, looking at the beginning of the season for New York, this is undoubtedly a must-win matchup.
The Giants are set to face off against five playoff teams from last season in the first six games. If they can manage to take down a team like the Niners, who very well could have made the Super Bowl if Brock Purdy didn't get hurt, things could get a little crazy for the G-Men early on in the season.
Following the team's matchup against the Niners, the Giants face the Seahawks, Dolphins, and Bills in consecutive weeks. If they manage to take down San Francisco, there's no reason to say they can't beat any of the three teams previously listed.
This is not an easy game to win, however, the Giants are no strangers to pulling off a miraculous underdog win. Taking a big-time team down this early into the season would have a drastic effect on the Giants' momentum entering the biggest stretch of the fall.
2. NY Giants Week 1 vs. Cowboys
There may not be a better way to start the season than taking down the division-rival Cowboys on Sunday Night Football in Week 1. New York has failed to beat the Cowboys since 2021, however, we're incredibly confident in the team's odds to start the season off hot.
New York came close to beating Dallas in both of their games last season. Considering the massive upgrades they made on both sides of the ball, we're sure New York can steal the first game of the season.
Not only would this win give the Giants tons of momentum, but it would also show that they can take down those tough playoff opponents that they need to win against. This game could be a very big proving ground for the Giants. If they want to prove that last season wasn't a fluke, they need to come out with a Week 1 win against one of their biggest rivals.
A home, Sunday Night Football game in Week 1 against the Cowboys is must-watch television for any fan of football. Hopefully, the Giants can capitalize on this excitement and start the year off hot like they did last year.
1. NY Giants Week 16 vs. Eagles
If you thought the previous games were exciting, how about a Christmas Day matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. While we know how poorly things went the last time these two faced off on Christmas, we're rather confident that it won't happen again considering that the Eagles don't have DeSean Jackson anymore.
This game is huge for multiple reasons. Not only is it the most exciting out of all the matchups on the Christmas schedule, but it's also late into the season when the Giants will likely be scraping for a playoff spot in the NFC.
It's always tough to beat the Eagles, especially on a day like Christmas. Despite this, for the first time in years, we're confident in the Giants' ability to take down any team they face. Hopefully, Boston Scott doesn't become the Giant killer he usually is and ruin all of our Christmas, though. There may not be a worse fashion to lose than by a player like Scott going off again.
The smile that would come across our faces if New York took the Eagles down on Christmas would be insanely huge. There may not be a better gift for Giants fans across the country than a win like this. Just thinking about it has us incredibly excited for this matchup. Regardless of the outcome, it'll be incredibly fun football to watch.
