One of the biggest takeaways from the offseason for the NY Giants has no question been the focus on improving the passing game. Joe Schoen was a busy man, bringing in Parris Campbell, Jalin Hyatt, Darren Waller and more.

While Waller isn't a wideout and he's a stud tight end, he's still going to play a massive role for Daniel Jones. As for the WRs, we also can't forget about Schoen getting things done with Isaiah Hodgins, Darius Slayton and Sterling Shepard. Fans are hyped to have those three back.

The unit has plenty of potential, but it's surely still missing a WR1 for the group. This is something the team over at Pro Football Focus had in mind when releasing its WR rankings for '23, as they have the Giants checking in at No. 25.

Daniel Jones and the Giants passing game needs to improve this season

"The Giants receiving room is deep, but the ceiling feels limited, at least compared to other teams. Isaiah Hodgins came on strong at the end of last season, earning a 74.5 receiving grade from Week 13 on. They also have Darius Slayton, Parris Campbell, Wan'Dale Robinson, Sterling Shepard and the newly-drafted Jalin Hyatt. Daniel Bellinger was a reliable tight end option but wouldn't be categorized as a focal-point player. It’s a deep room that is still searching for its star WR1.
"
PFF's Trevor Sikkema

It's hard to argue with what Sikkema had to say. This offseason, fans were hoping for the Giants to try and land a WR1. Right now, those same people are still holding out hope that either DeAndre Hopkins will sign with the team, or that a Stefon Diggs trade will go down from out of nowhere.

We don't expect either of those dreams to come to fruition. At the end of the day, the Giants passing attack was pretty vanilla last year and Jones didn't have a ton of weapons at his disposal. The new guys in town will 100 percent help the offense improve, but the WRs still have plenty of folks doubting their ability to get the job done moving forward.
