It’s hard to keep track of all the names that have been linked with the NY Giants leading up to the Nov. 1 trade deadline. Come next Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET, all deals must be completed and the G-Men are surely looking at bringing in some studs to help out on both sides of the ball. However, general manager Joe Schoen must be careful.

Sure, bringing in an exciting playmaker would be great to see for the fanbase, but there are some guys who simply are not worth the risk. In this article, we take a look at three moves in particular Schoen and Co. should stay away from.

3. Trading for Miami Dolphins TE Mike Gesicki

This is a new name that’s been brough to our attention: Mike Gesicki. The Miami Dolphins tight end is having a down year for the AFC East side, but he’s sure put together some strong showings in the past. With that said, the G-Men are also looking for some tight end help now that Daniel Bellinger could be lost for the rest of the campaign. Enter Gesicki?

Yes, adding a player of Gesicki’s caliber would be great for the Giants offense and quarterback Daniel Jones, but there’s just no way NY can afford to bring him in. Gesicki returned to Miami on a one-year, $10.9 million contract. The Giants have limited cap space, so unless Miami wants to eat up a large portion of the TE’s salary, there’s no way this could work.

CBS proposed trades for each contender and they like the idea of Schoen making something happen to bring in Gesicki to East Rutherford in exchange for multiple draft picks. Again, the thought of him catching balls from Danny Dimes is fun to think about, but there’s too many obstacles in the way to make this realistic. Schoen should turn his attention elsewhere.

2. Trading for Carolina Panthers WR D.J. Moore

From the moment Matt Rhule was fired as head coach of the Panthers, D.J. Moore trade rumors started swirling. It’s looking like the Panthers are sellers, which was made more than clear when the team traded superstar running back Christian McCaffrey to the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for a boatload of picks.

Could Moore be the next stud to be shipped to a new squad? He’d be a great addition for the Giants, there’s no question about that. The only issue here is that Carolina reportedly wants multiple draft picks and the asking price could be too high for the G-Men. If the price was right, however, then sure, go get Moore.

The Giants can’t afford to overpay for someone like Moore. He’s got all the talent in the world, but NY can’t let Carolina – or anyone for that matter – body them around. Yes, the NY wide receivers room isn’t healthy, but things could look promising if Kadarius Toney and Kenny Golladay are able to return to full health.

While they can’t be trusted to consistently deliver for Daniel Jones, the hope is they’ll be hungrier than ever when they do get back on the field. That could be a major bonus for this offense, but it remains to be seen if that will be the case. Regardless, if Carolina wants to play hard ball, they can do so with someone else.

1. NY Giants can’t trade away Darius Slayton

With all the setbacks injury wise for the wideouts, we’ve finally seen Darius Slayton step his game up a little bit. The Week 7 touchdown against the Jaguars was a thing of beauty, as Jones fired a perfect deep ball and Slayton was able to make an acrobatic grab for the big-time score. Now the Giants want to trade him?

Hopefully not. According to FOX Sports Ralph Vacchiano’s sources, the G-Men ‘can expect’ calls from teams around the league for a potential Slayton trade. During the offseason, this would have been a move that fans would have loved to see, as Slayton had fallen way down the depth chart and no one had forgetten about all of his drops in the past.

Fast forward to present time, and Slayton is the most experienced WR able to stay on the field to make plays for Jones. With his speed, he’s a quality downfield threat for the Giants, which we all saw against Jacksonville. Jones and Brian Daboll are going to need Slayton to keep performing if they want to keep recording close wins the rest of the way. NY can’t trade Slayton right now. They need to bring in more WR talent, not get rid of it.
