Safety Kenny Phillips
Over the coming weeks I will be posting my candidates for the New York Giants breakout stars of the 2009 season.
Candidate Number #1: Kenny Phillips (FS/SS)
My first choice for 2009 breakout player is last years first round pick Kenny Phillips. He possesses all the tools and traits that you look for in a play making safety, and he showed flashes of that when he was on the field last year. Phillips posted 67 tackles, 5 pass deflections, and an interception will playing mostly as the third safety/situational player.
I love his potential to really become a difference maker. Look for KP to become a full time starter next season and make some big time plays in the secondary.
2009 Projections
- Tackles – 80
- Pass Deflections – 8
- Interceptions – 5

Love the kid… I too think he will break out this year.
Remember this… Fitz, 2 hands on it in the endzone… Phillips comes in to knock it out!
