A revenge game for Super Bowl XXI

These two teams have alternated wins and losses the past five meetings, and the Giants won the last time out so history says the Broncos will win. However, if Orton is still hurt they don’t have a chance. Which brings up an interesting point: if Neck Beard doesn’t play then Chris Simms will get the nod. That will be weird seeing a Simms start AGAINST the Giants. Bizarre.

The G-Men are making their first appearance on Thanksgiving since 1992, when they got lit up by the Cowboys, 30-3. Remember that, remember when the Cowboys were relevant? Me neither.

Brandon Jacobs, who left last week’s game with a knee injury, said he is fine and will be able to go on Thursday night. Ahmad Bradshaw, already nursing a bad right foot/ankle, duffed up his left ankle against the Falcons and might not play against the Broncos. That could be bad news because the G-Men need to get the running game going to have a chance. They can’t rely strictly on the pass.

On the plus side for Big Blue, B-Dawk might not play. That would be huge for the young receivers, as well as for Eli, because Weapon X was always a problem for the Giants when he was with Philly. It’s poetic justice: he was always a pain in the neck for the Giants and now he might not play because of a pain in his neck (Thank you, I’ll be here all week!)…If the Giants can get their passing game going there’s no telling what the team is capable of. Let’s hope Eli has another career day.

It will be interesting to see if the announcers make a big deal about how McDaniels was on the coaching staff for NE’s Super Bowl 42 team. I’m guessing they milk that for all it’s worth. Between that and the whole Simms-Giants thing Bob Papa and Matt Millen will have their hands full.

Regardless of the short rest and having to play two time zones away, I think the G-Men take this one, 24-14. A far cry from the 39-20 shellacking Big Blue put on the Orange Crush to claim the franchise’s first Super Bowl following the 86 season, but a win nonetheless…The Broncos are in a downward spiral now and the Giants should exploit that. If they can stop Knowshon Moreno and move the ball it’s a done deal.
