No End To Lockout In Sight

I hope no one stayed up all night expecting the lockout to come to an end by the crack of dawn this morning, because the latest word is that no ‘announcement’ is coming today regarding a new CBA and an end to the NFL Lockout.

"Although both sides continue to make substantial progress toward a labor deal that could get most or even all training camps opened on time, an agreement is not expected today.…The sides are meeting again in New York. With owners scheduled to meet Thursday in Atlanta, a deal would need to be in place before then to be ratified at the meeting. Stay tuned."

PFT says the reason for the delay is because players have asked any announcement to come after the weekend despite significant progress made on rookie wage scale issues:

"Before news broke on Thursday of a deal finally being struck on the rookie wage scale, based on significant concessions being made by the owners, we were told that the players had decided to delay until Monday any action on a possible effort to lift the lockout as to players not under contract (i.e., rookies and free agents). The dramatic progress that came on Thursday rendered that legal strategy largely moot."

In any case — my prediction has come and gone. Still — who will disagree that the lockout needs to end yesterday.
