NFL Lockout Update

facebooktwitterreddit

What we know so far about the lockout is that the owners voted 31-0 (with the Raiders abstaining) to approve ratifications to the CBA, which basically means they said yes to a new CBA and were ready to end the lockout. Then the ball was thrown in the players court and everybody thought they were going to vote on the new CBA last night. But, the players said that the owners tried to throw in some new provisions that weren’t agreed upon by the NFLPA* and that the owners also wanted the NFLPA* to re-certify itself pronto. The players said no to the latter and are still mulling over the new CBA that the owners agreed to.

The Hall of Fame game has officially been cancelled, too.

There are a bunch of ratifications and rule changes leaking out such as the players want an opt out clause in the new CBA, that the game day roster has been upped from 45 active players to 46 active players and that the 3rd string emergency QB rule has been discarded, and HGH testing will be added, just to name a few.

Once everything is settled and we know for sure what’s in the new CBA we’ll take a look at it and go over it for you.

The players may vote on the CBA today so stay tuned as the clock might be striking midnight sometime soon.
