Video: Jerry Reese Discusses Giants Offseason Issues
By author
GM Jerry Reese addressed the press this afternoon – here’s what he had to say about the Giants offseason so far:
Here are the bullet points:
• The Giants feel good about the offensive line
• Bradshaw re-signing was a priority, accomplished that
• Free Agency is free agency, Giants still have good receivers on the roster
• Still looking for better players
• Made responsible offers to Giants free agents, they moved on (Boss, Smith)
• Secured another QB, another punter
• Osi issues are still there, will not discuss
• Defensive front should be very strong, a strength
• Goff does not have MLB locked down, but he’s the second year starter
• Boley and Kiwanuka are critical on the outside
• Secondary is going to be better as well
• We feel good about the Giants roster
—- On the Smith/Boss free agency issues —-
• fans don’t understand the process
• not surprised, it’s free agency, but he did expect a continued conversation
• when they drafted Boss/Smith — people had problems with them… now they’re upset they let them go elsewhere
• Steve Smith made the decision to go elsewhere, it’s free agency
• we’re sticking to our game plan, we have guys that can contribute on our roster, but they’ll have to step up
• proof is in the pudding, we’ll see what guys can do
• big sexy moves don’t always win. we make good solid football decisions
