A quick recap of Paul Dottino from WFAN during his interview with Mike Francesca while at GIANTS camp today:
- Believes that Tom Coughlin might be looking at keeping a kick-off specialist(Lloyd) this year. Especially given the serious concerns regarding the special team coverage.
- Starting wide outs will be Nicks and Manningham; with Manningham shifting to the slot in the three receiver sets with Hixon moving outside.
- Victor Cruz has had a sub-par camp and has not been impressive at all. Has not looked dynamic at all.
- Kenny Phillips came into camp overweight. Hard to tell if he has lost a step because he played last season at about 70%.
- T. Thomas is looking like a pro bowl corner. This might be his year to become an elite corner in the NFL.
- B. Witherspoon has impressed in camp. Quick, shifty, and agile corner who could return kicks. Has been working with the second team defense but could be a good player for this team. Dottino compared him to a young Everson Walls.
- Regarding Osi: Believes Osi wants to be with the GIANTS but on his terms. Believes Osi will play well this year; next year is the real question.
- Kiwi has looked excellent so far in camp. He is fully recovered and looking to impress this year.
- Tight end is going to be a year long issue: Beckum cannot block, Pascoe is not an explosive receiver and Ballard is just young and raw at this point.
- Dodge versus Weatherford is even after week one. Dottino believes the GIANTS want Dodge to win and that is why they have brought in Feagles to tutor him.
- It may take Baas a couple weeks into the regular season to completely jell, but the GIANTS are extremely high on him. They love his in your face attitude that he takes.
