MetLife Stadium is Born

There had been rumours for several months that one of the major sponsors at the New Meadowlands Stadium, MetLife, was in negotiations to purchase the naming rights at the home of the Giants and Jets. The deal is now done.
"MetLife will pay an estimated $400 million over 20 years for the naming rights to the New Meadowlands Stadium, according to a report on NYPost.com."
MetLife previously held rights to a “cornerstone” sponsorship worth $7 million per year. This means that one of the four large screens taking up residence in the corners of the stadium will now be without a name.
I have to admit that I still miss calling it Giants Stadium, and not just because it cast the Jets as second class citizens. But as a beagle owner myself, I won’t mind seeing Snoopy, one of my favorite characters, all over the place the next time I go to a game. After all, there are worse mascots we could have running around the stadium. But if the rates on my pet insurance policy rise because of this deal I will be pretty upset!
