What They Say…Week 2 Power Rankings

I know this will come as a shock, but the Giants took a beating in this week’s power rankings. Everyone chooses a different area to blame for their loss to the Redskins, so without further ado, let’s jump right in!
The Giants Across the Board
"The Giants need to find some playmakers on offense—soon."
Or the playcallers need to better utilize the personnel they have. See the failed fourth and 1 attempt and lack of third down throws to Hixon.
"I am worried about the emotional state of this team after all the body blows it has taken since the start of training camp. There is no shame in losing to the Redskins, but now I believe the Giants already face a must-win situation against the Rams in Week 2."
I don’t think it’s time to panic quite yet, but a win in the national spotlight at their home opener would do wonders for their mental well-being.
"The Giants have been absolutely snake-bitten and riddled with injuries. How far will this crew take them?"
I think that’s what we are all wondering.
"Turnovers are the bane of Tom Coughlin’s existence. So why does this team always have big ones?"
That kind of play, 99 times out of 100, ends in a batted down, incomplete pass, but that’s just the way their luck has been this year.
"Maybe Rob Ryan will be the next coach of the Giants."
Way too early for this kind of talk, but that won’t stop the haters.
Below are a few more relevant rankings provided by National Football Post with my comments.
St. Louis Rams – 20 (0-1, week 2)
They simply did not look as good as expected against the Eagles. But more importantly, they are suffering from injury problems of their own. Fortunately for them it looks like Sam Bradford is fine.
Philadelphia Eagles – 4 (1-0, week 3)
There is no question that there is a ton of talent on this team, the question is whether they can play well as a team. So far we have learned nothing new about this team. The Rams are good, but not elite, so an accurate judgment remains to be seen.
Arizona Cardinals – 17 (1-0, week 4)
I didn’t expect their match up against the Panthers to be such an exciting game, but there it was. Kevin Kolb impressed in his first start, and if he keeps it up the Giants will have a problem on their hands on defense week 4.
Seattle Seahawks – 32 (0-1, week 5)
This is the first team the Giants will face that is currently ranked below them. I refuse to believe the season will be down the drain by week 5, but there is certainly no reason the Giants can’t handle the Seahawks next month.
Dallas Cowboys – 12 (0-1, week 14)
In general, the Cowboys don’t have that kind of meltdown until December. Seems to me that Romo is a victim of the lockout, having come off a season-ending injury. We will see how long it takes him to shake off the cobwebs.
Washington Redskins – 14 (1-0, week 15)
I would love to bash the Redskins here but I just can’t. They earned that win by wearing the Giants out and exploiting their weaknesses, especially in the secondary. I expect the Rams will be paying attention to this game plan, giving Spags the chance to dismantle the unit he once led to a Super Bowl victory.
