Andy Reid’s Gamble?

When I heard Sunday that Desean Jackson would be inactive I was a little shocked.  I know there is a contract dispute looming and that  D. Jax has not been a model citizen this year.  First things first… do you think proving you are unreliable is the best way to get a raise and have the owner try his best to keep you happy?  Probably not the best tactic on Jackson’s part.  Then I thought of Andy Reid’s actions of benching him for an entire game.  Most coaches take actions such as not starting a player, or sitting him for a half to prove their point of authority.  My belief is Reid wanted an angry Jackson ready to perform at his top level against the Division Rival and Division leading Giants this week.  I believe Andy thought he could sit Jackson against the “lesser” opponent in the Arizona Cardinals, and have a beast ready to unleash against the Giants Sunday Night.  What Reid forgot was the same thing he seems to have forgotten when building this team….he has no defense.  The Eagles have a Net points differential of 17.  With an offense built around the likes of Vick, McCoy, Jackson, Maclin, Avant, and Celek they have managed to outscore their opponents by just 17 points.  With a record of 3-6 the Eagles must now run the table to have any hope of post-season play. If this was Reid’s plan, it failed miserably as has his entire team over the first 9 games.
