Looks like a very busy weekend at MetLife Stadium.  Here are some of the happening for the weekend

New York Giants vs. New York Jets

The Giants will host the Jets this Saturday, August 24 in the third annual MetLife Bowl.  In 2011, the Jets won the inaugural MetLife Bowl, 17-3, while the Giants bounced back to win, 26-3 in 2012. The MetLife Bowl refers to the annual preseason game between the two New York franchises, where both teams battle for the Snoopy Trophy and the right to earn $30,000 for their charity of choice.  Fans can help raise extra money for the New York Giants charity of choice, neighborhood playground builder, KaBOOM! by incorporating the hashtag #Road2MetLifeStadium into their tweets throughout the MetLife Bowl this Saturday.  MetLife Foundation will donate an additional $25 per tweet to each team’s charity, up to $12,500 per team.

News, Events and Enhancements for the 2013 Season

Stadium Updates – Clear Bag Policy

As a reminder, in our efforts to provide a safer environment for the public while attending Giants games at MetLife Stadium, an NFL policy limiting the size and type of bags and purses that may be brought into stadiums has been implemented for all NFL teams.  Because of this league-wide policy change, we have outfitted all of our valued Season Ticket Holders with a complimentary Giants clear bag (one bag for every two seats in your account) to use on game day. The bags have been shipped to you with information that further explains the new clear bag and carry-in policy. Your new clear bag meets the NFL’s guidelines and will help you conveniently carry your items into MetLife Stadium on game day.  Additional information can be found by clicking here.

Plaza Happenings

MetLife Central

Giant’s alum Phillippi Sparks will sign autographs for fans from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM on the MetLife Central Stage.  Sparks was drafted by the New York Giants as the 13th pick in the second round of the 1992 NFL Draft.  He played for the Giants until 1999 and now resides in New York City.

Fans of all ages are encouraged to check out the activities at The Turf at MetLife Central, with various interactive drills, including a fan tunnel leading onto the field, a field goal kick and passing targets.  We would like to remind you not to forget to high-five Snoopy for good luck on your way through the MetLife Gate.

Make sure to pick up your MetLife Central Countdown Card on the way into the game, which is your opportunity to win hundreds of great Giants prizes and experiences.

In-Game Entertainment

National Anthem

We are excited to announce that 14-year-old Lianah Sta. Ana will sing this week’s National Anthem.  The young talent recently performed the anthem this spring during the 2013 NBA Playoffs at Madison Square Garden when the New York Knicks hosted the Indiana Pacers.  She has also made appearances at Citi Field, the home of the New York Mets, and the US Open Tennis Championships.

USA Football

As part of USA Football month, the NFL and the New York Giants will recognize “Heads Up,” Football a nationwide program launched by USA Football in April with a $1.5 million grant from the NFL Foundation.  The USA Football program celebrates, encourages and supports the game of football, as well as the essential values gained from participation in youth football.  Throughout the month, young players, coaches and families will receive the chance to participate in special football events nationwide, including clinics, skills competitions and scrimmages.  Saturday night the Giants are honoring them and the efforts of their coaches and parents during the pregame and halftime festivities.
