Giants Roster Not Final

The New York Football Giants did what they needed to do yesterday to comply with NFL rules and cut its roster down to 53, but it’s not final by any stretch of the imagination. Consider the following:

1. Are we to believe that Da’rel Scott is now trusted to block for Eli on passing plays after just one half of decent football?  We know that protecting the QB is paramount for the running backs of the Giants, and I find it hard to believe that Scott fits that bill.  I would look for another back to be brought in and maybe signed shortly.

2. Will Hill has been put on the suspension list, and I think when he is eligible to return S Cooper Taylor had better have made an impression on the coaching staff.  Hill could have been a starter easily, but his personal problems have put him in a tough position.

3. I hope that players like Matt Broha, Charles James, and Adewale Ojomo can make it through waivers and can be re-signed today to the practice squad.  These guys were caught in a numbers game, and they deserve a shot to play somewhere, and I hope it’s here.

4. I have to believe David Carr will get an offer from someone.  With teams like Buffalo and Oakland in the league searching for answers at QB, David Carr could fill the backup spot at least.  I wish David and his family well and hope that he lands on his feet quickly.

With that said, I think there will be some jockeying with the final roster before and after the Giants face the Cowboys a week from Sunday Night.
