The 2013 campaign will not be remember fondly by one David Baas. The Giants placed the 9-year veteran center on Injured Reserve following the results of a Tuesday MRI, officially ending his season. After missing three consecutive weeks with a neck issue, the aggravation of an MCL injury (suffered in the preseason) on the first drive of Monday night’s game proved to be the knockout blow. Jim Cordle will replace him performing snap duty for the remainder.

"“You kind of know right away when you get that feeling. I was hoping it wasn’t anything worse, but it’s definitely bad enough to where it’s come to this.”"

Baas missed five games in 2011, played in all 16 last year and when all is said and done he’ll miss essentially 14 games in 2013.  He’s owed $4.75 million in 2014 and $5 million in 2015 — the back end of his 5-year deal ($11.5 million guaranteed) now looks like an unmitigated disaster. His performance during the Giants 2011 postseason run is the only saving grace.
