“A lot to be said for the way we are playing right now on D.” – Tom Coughlin

Two weeks, zero turnovers by Eli Manning. Two weeks, zero TDs given up by the Giants defense. It is no coincidence that the Giants are now 2-6.

Matter of fact, this Giants defense hasn’t given up a TD since the 2nd quarter of the Bears game.

  • Hillis ran for 70 yards on 20 carries. Also caught 3 for 15.
  • Cruz had 7 for 86.
  • Nicks had 7 for 51.
  • Myers had 3 for 42, including a clutch first down.
  • Jernigan got the reps that Randle didn’t, he had 3 for 29

Eagles Offense:

  • Vick was only in the game until there was 2:24 left in the first half, had 31 yards and an interception. 1 rushing yard.
  • Barkley came in and led impressive drives, but finished 17 for 26, 158 yards and an interception
  • Shady McCoy was held to just 48 yards on 15 carries. 18 yards on 4 receptions.
  • Desean Jackson had 8 receptions for 63 yards. A lot of them being quick WR screens.

The Giants defense had 4 sacks, bringing the season total to 10.

Antrel Rolle was flying all over the field. Had an interception and a sack.

Terrell Thomas had 11 total tackles, a sack and a huge forced fumble.

Quick Blow By Blow:

Giants got the ball first. Went no where. Weatherford had his only bad punt of the game, shanking it out at the Eagles 40.

Eagles first drive ended with a Rolle interception. Group demonstration was called. 15 yard penalty.

Eli passed Phil Simms as the Giants leader in career passing yards on a drive that featured a no call on P.I. vs Nicks in the endzone. Ended with a 40 yard FG. 3-0

Rolle got the 12 yard sack on the ensuing Eagles possession.

The punt almost hit McBride on the hand, however it did not. Cruz slipped on a wide open slant, another drive ending in a field goal. 6-0.

When the first quarter ended, the Giants were out gaining the Eagles 116-16 in yards.

Eli over shot Nicks on a fade in the endzone, and after penalties, a drop, and a TE running out of the back of the endzone, another field goal was kicked. 9-0.

To make it 12-o, the Giants drove down the field with the help of a P.I. penalty versus Cruz. Obviously the drive stalled however.

Rookie Matt Barkley came into the game with 2:24 left in the half and drove the Eagles all the way down to the Giants 2 yard line. Terrell Thomas however came on a blitz and sacked Barkley, stripping the ball which was recovered by Jacquian Williams.

The next score did’t come until the 4th quarter. After Cruz came back from neck x-rays. Giants drove down inside the 10. 2nd and 2 from the 9, there was a delay of game. On 2nd and 7, Nicks missed a fade in the endzone. Myers got 5 yards on 3rd and the Giants had to kick another field goal.

The Eagles only score came on a botched punt snap that landed at the NYG 2 yard line and was scooped up for 7. On the drive, the Giants started at their own 41 but could not move it, Eli actually got sacked on 3rd and 5 for a 10 yard loss.

Rolle recovered the onsides kick.

Myers got a big first with 2:40 left after a delay of game pushed the giants back to 3rd and 7.

Giants had to punt, but Barkley threw a pick to Will Hill with :13 left.
