New York Giants: 2014 Strength of Schedule

According to ESPN’s SOS figures, the Giants will face the 26th most difficult schedule in 2014. With an aggregate opponent’s winning percentage of 46.5%, only five teams will have an easier path to the playoffs — the entire AFC South and the Ravens. However… in today’s quick turnaround NFL, the SOS tool can blur the picture in many cases. Between Free agency, the draft and rehabilitation from injury, teams can flip their fortunes 180 degrees in rapid fire time.
The Falcons (H) and Texans (H) won a combined six games a year ago, but they’re far from teams you can pen in W’s against. Squaring off with the Seahawks, Rams and Lions on the road doesn’t feel particularly comfortable either. A dreadful NFC East in 2013 has skewed these numbers, and perhaps we’re looking at a repeat performance in 2014. But outside of the division, the Giants will be tested early and often.
