Round 2

Jimmy Garoppolo

Dec 13, 2013; Charleston, IL, USA; Towson Tigers defensive tackle Jon Desir (99) pursues Eastern Illinois Panthers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (10) during the fourth quarter at O

Jimmy Garoppolo

Jimmy Garoppolo is a lot like Derek Carr, the main exception is that Garoppolo played at a level of competition at Eastern Illinois where he was able to dominate because it was so easy. He threw for over 4,700 yards with 53 touchdowns to 9 interceptions.

Like Carr, he tends to drift out of the pocket when pressure surrounds him and his footwork becomes a little frenetic. He does have a lightning quick release though, and is able to go through his progressions and make multiple reads before deciding who to throw it too.

Jimmy did not have the best surrounding talent around him, and when he is able to have NFL starting caliber receivers, his game will be that much better. Like Carr, you will have to solidify the offensive line if you draft him.
