So much for letting Justin Tuck test the market without intervening. According to Jordan Raanan of NJ.com, the Giants and Jerry Reese apparently made an offer to Justin Tuck prior to the three-day negotiation window. Nevertheless, the end result will be the same, as the two sides could not find common dollar ground. Gaudy statistical accumulations in 2013 aside, Tuck is not an upper echelon DE at this stage of the game. His optimistic agent will find a team to bite, but it won’t be the Giants.

Tuck graded out as a 15.4 in run defense by Pro Football Focus, but just 0.8 when rushing the quarterback. He posted five negative pass rush rating games — including -1.4 in a must-win game versus Dallas in week 12.
