Jerry Reese continues his rampant free agent activity, this time with a lower profile acquisition. The Giants have signed former Miami Dolphins guard John Jerry to a one-year $770,000 deal with $25,000 guaranteed money. Jerry, renowned for getting torn to shreds on HBO’s “Hard Knocks”, has started 16 games at right guard in consecutive seasons. Pro Football Focus graded him at 6.8 in pass protection (5 sacks allowed), but a disastrous -10.4 in run blocking. His 2012 performance was eerily similar — 3.8 pass & -8.8 run — so this is clearly developing into an expected pattern of performance. Added predominantly as a depth piece, Jerry could be forced into a more prominent role if Chris Snee, 32, doesn’t recover as anticipated following hip surgery.

It should also be noted that Jerry’s name popped up several times in the Dolphins locker room report. According to Jonathan Martin, Jerry verbally harassed him repeatedly during the 2012 season.
