Welcome to GMEN HQ, recently, we had a chance to catch up with the Editor of The Landry Hat, Steve Mullenax, to talk about the New York Giants vs the Dallas Cowboys.

The Landry Hat’s counter edition called Behind Enemy Lines With GMenHQ.com; Cowboys vs. Giants Preview, is also a very great read. Be sure to check it out.

Now it’s time for Questions with the Enemy, let’s get started:

1. After Monday night’s blowout loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Eli Manning said this team needs to grow up. What do you think Manning meant by that and how can this squad do so?

I believe Manning meant that the Giants need to be more disciplined in terms of preparation for the next game and not engage in such nonsense as trash talk. It also meant that this team cannot feel sorry for themselves and that they need to stay focused and worry about Dallas. I believe this team can improve in terms of playing with more focus and aggressiveness, especially in the trenches which was a big problem for Big Blue last Sunday.

2. What are New York’s biggest strength and weakness going into Sunday’s game against the Cowboys?

The Giants’ biggest strength has to be Eli Manning executing a quick passing attack that gets their playmakers Reuben Randle, Odell Beckham Jr. and Larry Donell involved to set the tempo and wear out the Cowboy’s defense. But that success is predicated on what has become the Giants’ biggest weakness and that is the Giants offensive line. If they allow as much pressure on Manning as they did last Sunday, it will be another long afternoon for Big Blue.

3. What is your assessment of this Giant’s defense after the first six weeks of the season?

Through six games thus far, the New York Giants defense had played fairly well across the board. They haven’t been spectacular and have the tendency to giving up the big plays when the defensive line cannot get pressure, but the Giants do lead the league in turnovers with 10 thus far and have kept the Giants in games. Now will they continue this trend now that corner Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie is banged up.

4. Name the one unknown Giants’ player Cowboy fans will be surprised by on Sunday?

One unknown player Dallas should be on the lookout for is wide receiver Preston Parker. Parker will get the first crack to replace Victor Cruz in the slot and has shown flashes of potential to make tough catches in traffic and make plays with his speed after the catch.

5. Your prediction for this weekend’s Cowboys/Giants game and why?

My prediction is that the Giants will certainly put up a better effort than last Sunday against a Dallas Cowboys team that is playing like one of the best teams in football so far. That being said, Dallas is on a roll and will look to prey on a banged up Giants team at home. It pains me to say this but I predict a 24-14 Dallas victory at home against a Giants team that has way more questions than answers right now.

One GMEN HQ Final Thought: Losing Victor Cruz was painful. 27-0 was beyond hideous. Watching a Dallas Cowboy get arrested for stealing underwear barely creates a smile. Abysmal week all around.

Normally this NYG team and all of Giants Nation would love to walk into Dallas and beat the Cowboys for 44th time, it’d be great and redeeming. After all, the Dallas Cowboys are the easiest team in the NFL to hate not named Da Raiders, but they own this 54 year old rivalry series, 59-43-2. That’s just a cruel GIANT fact.

  • Nevertheless, it should be a high scoring game. The last five matchups at Dallas, these two teams combined for 331 points. That’s 66.2 ppg. Holy Over, G-Men.

It’s safe to say the Giants offense will show up for Dallas and it’s quaint to think they’ll win one for Victor Cruz. But the honest truth is that this game could go either way and will probably come down to mistakes in the fourth quarter or overtime. Our prediction was pessimistic, but we all know Giants Nation (not so secretly) wants to win.
