2015 Fantasy Football: Shane Vereen Perfect Sleeper Pick

In fantasy football the running back position will always be the most important position to draft. The secret is that it is your running back number 2 that makes or breaks your team. Shane Vereen of the New York Giants is the perfect second running back.

It is not hard to get a number 1 running back. It is hard to get that second running back, the running back that may not be a super star but he gets you 15 to 20 points a weekend.

Most fantasy teams are lucky to get 10 points from their second running back; after the stars have been taken they go to the receivers, quarterbacks and tight ends.

Be the fantasy football hero, draft Vereen anywhere from the 5th to 8th round of your fantasy draft. Vereen is especially valuable in PPR (Points Per Reception) leagues because he is a stud receiving running back.

With the New England Patriots Vereen was usually good for 3-5 receptions and 30 to 45 yards. 5 receptions for 45 yards in a PPR league should be about 7.5 points. That’s before you add what he provides on the ground.

Vereen is heading into a backfield that is not loaded with talent. Vereen is the best back the Giants have and will play a larger role in New York than he did in New England. The Giants offense is also a great landing spot for PPR running backs because the west coast offense utilizes the back more in the passing game.

I predict that Vereen will be the feature back of the Giants offense and his rushing yards per game will hover around 60-100 yards. He will have 5-7 receptions per game for 50-100 yards.

If he rushes for 60 yards and has 5 receptions for 50 yards in a game that would be about 13.5 points. If Vereen can find the end zone he could be the fantasy football surprise player that everyone wish they drafted. If you take my advice, you’ll reap the rewards.
