New York Giants: Can The Team Make The Playoffs?
The New York Giants have not made the playoffs for the past three seasons. In 2011 the Giants hoisted the Lombardi trophy. Once the glory of the Super Bowl faded away, the Giants Nation realized the team had headed in the wrong way.
In 2013 the Giants lost their first six games. It was a shocking wake up call for the organization. That is it should have been. The Giants were 6-10 in 2014. The past two seasons were unacceptable and there just isn’t any other way to put it.
The Giants need major changes to make the postseason in 2015. They need to get more out of the running game and they need to protect Eli Manning better in the passing game. The defense needs to do its fair share. In 2014 the defense could not stop the run and gave up big plays in the passing game.

The question is did the Giants do enough to change their fate? In the NFL anything is possible. Teams who struggled a year before often comeback to make the postseason. The Giants hope to be one of the surprises in the NFC in 2015.
The problem is the defense looks like it could be worse than it was a year ago. The Giants lost both starting safeties to free agency. The Giants still need help at the linebacker positions. The defense was ranked 29th last season.
I do believe the Giants offense is going to be sensational in 2015. I think the return of Geoff Schwartz on the offensive line will bring back a lot of power up front. The return of Victor Cruz will help tremendously as well. The addition of Shane Vereen gives the Giants a more versatile running back than they’ve had.
At the end of the day, I just don’t think the Giants are good enough on defense. The 2015 NFL Draft is a huge opportunity to fix that. That being said, there is more work to be done than just one good draft class. I hope I am wrong Giants Nation, but I have a hard time seeing the Giants making the playoffs next season.
