The New York Giants know who sits at the top of their depth chart at almost every position. What we need to see is which players will step up to fill the other spots on the depth chart? Where will the Giants hard working special team players come from, what about the back up players? There is a reason the active roster consists of 53 players. Football is a grueling game and it takes all 53 men working towards a common goal to win games.

Today we are going to look at some of the underdogs going into training camp. The late round draft picks, the undrafted free agents and the players who simply need to step up are included on this list. For guys like Eli Manning, training camp is a go through the motion kind of thing. You just have to get through it to get to the season. So while it isn’t fun for veteran players, it means the world to players trying to make the team.

It is important to remember that Victor Cruz was an undrafted free agent. Tom Brady was a sixth round draft pick. The great Terrell Davis worked his way up through special teams. Brett Favre was traded by the Atlanta Falcons to the Green Bay Packers because they saw him as nothing more than a back up. Great players have come from obscurity to become some of the most prominent stars in the game. Here are 5 players who have incredible potential but will have to start their careers on the bottom. Here are 5 players hoping just to make the team so they can chip away at their dreams of NFL glory.
