Giants Vs. Falcons: Big Blue Must Find Confidence

The New York Giants are just hours away from taking on the Atlanta Falcons. The Giants have to get this week 2 win about as badly as a team has ever had to win in week 2. The season gets a lot shorter when you squander opportunities in the beginning. The Giants have to get on the right track today.

For the Giants,(a team that has lost 19 games in the past two seasons) it is all about confidence at this point. They need to believe that it is a new season and all their goals still lie ahead of them. The Giants need to play with some passion and they need to step up in the hardest moments of the game. The Giants played a decent game against the Cowboys but they couldn’t finish the game.

Offensive rhythm is a manifestation of confidence. When players have confidence they find their groove. Manning knows his receivers will be where they are supposed to be and he fires timely passes to them. The offense starts to click, the play calling becomes a whole lot easier. This is what the Giants need. They need confidence on the offensive side.

That’s because the Giants are going to have to put up some points to win this game. They cannot afford to waste any chances with the ball. I don’t care how they find it. I don’t care how they accomplish the mission but they better find some confidence. When the Giants walk out on that field in East Rutherford, New Jersey they better think they’re going to score on every possession.

Because football is not a game you can play with a lack luster effort. Football is a game where you have to play in full speed, full determination and with an unbeatable passion flowing from your beating heart. You cannot do that timidly. The Giants have to come out and hit the Falcons in the mouth on every single play, knowing that they can pack the punch.

The defense has to let go the horrifying ending to the Giants first game. They have to come out of the tunnel with their identity in tact; they are the hammer and the Falcons are the nail. I want the defense flying around. I would rather them make a mistake playing with intensity and rage than have them play conservatively and soft.

The Falcons have a sub par offensive line and the Giants have to be in attack mode from the start of this game. The Falcons have incredible weapons and a quarterback that can make you pay. The pass rush has to take over the game. The defense has to decide to be unstoppable in their pursuit to the football.

We can talk all the X’s and O’s you want. We can talk about the matchups. We can do what ever you want but if the Giants don’t passionately find some belief in themselves, they aren’t going to win. This game is about more than just one win or loss. This about the team knowing they can do it.
