The New york Giants may have their franchise quarterback in Jaxson Dart and a somewhat enticing collection of young skill position players when healthy, but the fact they would have the No. 2 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft of the season ended today is a major indictment of Joe Schoen and recently fired head coach Brian Daboll.
The Giants have the luxury of some very clear needs that need to be addressed. The offensive line needs more than just Andrew Thomas to become a high-end unit, the lack of development from Deonte Banks has made the secondary a work in progress, and the linebacker room is lacking that one star who can take this defense to the next level

However, the poor performance of Dart's wide receivers will put pass-catchers very high on Schoen's (or whoever is the GM) list of targets at No. 2 overall. One name is pulling away from the rest, and many NFL Mock Drafts have the Giants selecting him.
Giants linked to big-name WR in 2026 NFL Mock Draft roundup
Keith Sanchez, The Draft Network: Jordyn Tyson, WR, Arizona State
With great size for the position, enough ball-tracking skills to be a tremendous 50-50 ball winner, and the speed to win against NFL-level athletes on the outside, Dart and the passing game could be taken to new heights if Tyson and Malik Nabers manage to team up on New York.
Nicholas Rome, Saturday Blitz: Jordyn Tyson, WR, Arizona State
If the Giants are not sold on Tyson, who has struggled with injuries this season, they may need to target one of the big three offensive tackle prospects in Utah's Spencer Fano, Miami's Francis Mauigoa, or Alabama's Kadyn Proctor to protect Dart.
Jeff Risdon, The Draft Wire: Arvell Reese, LB, Ohio State
Reese is one of those new-age hybrid linebackers who can get to the quarterback with ease due to his impressive explosion off the edge. As his stock continues to rise, New York might be very tempted to select someone many believe will be the best overall player in this class.
MIke Renner, CBS Sports: Peter Woods, DT, Clemson
Despite not having the same dominant season as he did during the 2024 campaign, Woods is one of the ten best prospects in this class. Alongside former Clemson star Dexter Lawrence, the Giants can forget the thought of anyone trying to run up the middle against these two.
