The preseason is over, at least for the New York Giants. Big Blue wrapped up its three-game preseason tune-up by cruising to a 23-6 victory over its MetLife roommate.
Most of the Giants' starters took the day off, giving players closer to the roster's edge plenty of chances to show that they belong.
Before we dive into a more thorough breakdown of the game, here are a few from-the-hip instant reactions to New York's preseason finale.
10 immediate takeaways from Giants' preseason win over Jets
1. Najee Harris looks explosive with the ball in his hands, less than a year removed from his Achilles tendon tear. He took five carries for 26 yards in the first quarter.
2. Odell Beckham Jr. got plenty of work in the first two quarters. He was generally effective outside of a dropped pass that was deflected into the air for an interception on New York's first drive. He seems to be a safe pick to make the final roster.
3. While most of the starters were on the sidelines, Big Blue's run defense looked as porous as ever early in the game. The Jets ran the ball ten consecutive times on their way to a touchdown in the first quarter, giving Giants fans flashbacks to 2025.
4. Tyrone Tracy Jr. was inching dangerously close to the roster bubble before this game. He did enough to earn back some of the trust that he lost over the last two weeks. On four carries, he racked up 37 yards and a touchdown. He did leave with an injury late in the first half but returned to the sideline later in the game. Per Dan Duggan, he was evaluated for a concussion and cleared.
5. Edge defender Trace Ford had another strong performance after earning a shoutout from Harbaugh for his play last week. He is relentless as a pass rusher and terrorized Jets QB Cade Klubnik. He even made multiple tackles in the backfield. Ford is still a long shot to make the final roster, but he deserves a spot in the league.
6. Darius Slayton was still on the field deep into the second quarter, while Malachi Fields remained on the sideline. All signs point to the rookie holding a firm lead in the battle for New York's second starting receiver spot.
7. Braxton Berrios may have put himself right back on the roster bubble with his first-quarter fumble in the red zone. He handled punt return duties again, which offer him his best chance at making the team with Calvin Austin III out.
8. Dominic Zvada did everything he needed to do to secure the starting kicker job over Ben Sauls. The undrafted rookie hit all three of his field goals and both of his extra points, while Sauls didn't see the field.
9. Neither quarterback is likely to make the final roster, but Jake Haener outplayed Brandon Allen by a mile. His touchdown pass to Xavier Gipson might be the best throw a Giants quarterback has made this preseason.
10. Make no mistake. John Harbaugh is still the king of the preseason.
