Thoughts On Dallas/Philly

Well, I feel a lot better now about the Giants chances of winning the NFC East.

What did I learn from watching the Cowboys and Eagles on Monday night? Neither of them know how to play defense.

Everyone is going to be talking about the incredible offenses that put up 78 points in 60 minutes, but really this was all made possible by the poor defense on both teams. Sure, the Eagles got a TD off a Tony Romo fumble in the end zone, which changed the game drastically, but isn’t that what Tony is really good for anyways? Screwing up in a big game.

Dallas couldn’t put Philly away Monday night and Philly couldn’t keep Dallas from coming back. It was a see-saw battle for four quarters with sloppy football and the result was a bunch of big plays and a high scoring affair. They might as well have advertised as the Pro Bowl, not for the players involved, but because of the type of play and scoring.

Aside from the ridiculous scoring, numerous big plays, and lack of defense, there was the play from DeShaun Jackson that I am sure will be seen on Sundays for years to come. This type of play is unacceptable and if Jackson had cared about winning the game more than he cared about getting to the back of the end zone and performing an embarrassing dance, then he might have actually scored a touchdown. Instead he is has assured himself a place towards the top of moronic plays in NFL history.

The Giants should not be worried about Dallas or Philadelphia, no matter what the rest of the football world says. There might be two talented offenses between the teams, but there is truly no defense, and we all know how the old saying goes. “Offense wins game, defense wins championships.” And because of that, I am confident you can count out the ‘Boys and Birds this season.
