Well I guess I was little off with my 31-13 prediction. What a win for the Giants. The 44-6 win was their biggest margin of victory since 1972 and will keep them atop the NFC East for another week.
What can you say about a blowout like this? You can’t really say the Giants did anything poorly and there isn’t too much criticism to hand out if any at all. So, basically I guess the Giants can just smile about this win for a day or two and then get back to work to get ready for Cleveland next Monday night. With a 1-3 record the Seahawks aren’t exactly the cream of the crop, but the Giants improved to 4-0 and now are six wins from a guaranteed postseason berth.
From the opening play, the Giants defense was all over the Seahawks and Matt Hasselback causing the Seahawks to resort to punting on almost every single possession of theirs throughout the game. The defense was relentless against the weak Seattle offense, allowing just two FGs in the game. With 49 points against in four game (an average of 12.25 points per game), the Giants are among the top defenses in the league.
The offense was pretty good too, in case you couldn’t tell by the score. Eli Manning (19/25, 267 yards) looked very comfortable once again throwing for two TDs and no INTs in only three quarters of play. Domenik Hixon (4 catches, 102 yards, TD) did more than enough filling in for Plaxico Burress as he burned the Seattle secondary the entire first half until the Giants went to the bench and started giving other receivers some time. Hixon even had a rushing play in the game, which he picked up 15 yards on.
How about Brandon Jacobs (15 carries, 136 yards)? What a game for the RB as he was able to just dominate one of the best running defenses in the game and looked to pick up 8-10 yards every time he had a carry and even had some big time runs. If only he had breakaway speed there were two 60+ yard TDs for him to pick up to go along with the other two TDs he scored.
And John Carney was given the kicking duties again and did a fine job to remain Mr. Perfect on the season.
It was a good day for the New York Football Giants and hopefully they will continue this winning streak, which is now at seven games (including the postseason).
