You can’t win ’em all…

Wow. That was one of the most depressing games I’ve ever seen. Against the Bears Saturday, the Giants looked flat and lifeless. It’s a shame because at the very beginning they looked decent. Their first defensive series they made some good plays and bended but didn’t break, the team looked fired up, Jacobs had a few nice runs, they were moving the ball and I had high hopes; but after a couple of plays they just fell apart and I died a little inside.

I know the G-Men had a lot of starters out, but they’d better get their heads out of their arses. Watching that game was like torture. Now I know what it’s like to be a Redskins fan. I don’t like it, I don’t like it one bit. I feel dirty. Plus, Jay Alford (knee) had to get carted off the field like a biatch…and that’s only good when it happens to the other guys.

However, there were some positives I noticed Saturday. Danny Ware kept impressing. His first kickoff return was solid and he had some runs that were legit. Plus, Jacobs is STILL a monster. Him knocking over Urlacher had shades of Shockey steamrolling Houston’s Kevin Williams in the 2002 Hall of Fame Game. That was awesome. Let’s just hope Jacobs’ career in NY turns out a little better than Shockey’s did. Another positive was that the game didn’t count. Thank the Good Lord it was just preseason. Let’s pretend that second half never happened.

On the other hand, the secondary looked sketchy (again, I know there were a lot of starters out). It could have been a lot worse if Cutler hadn’t overthrown a wide-open Hester on that bomb in the second quarter. That would have been (even more) devastating. I might have cried if he went unscathed into the endzone after getting by the secondary like that. Furthermore, Terrell Thomas better get his act together if he wants to see the field in the regualr season. Dropping that easy pick and the unnecessary roughness call? No thanks, pal.

Let’s chalk that game up to it just being the preseason and hope more players show up next week against that team the Giants let use their stadium when they’re on the road.
