Much to my chagrin, the G-Men cut ties with David Tyree (among others) on Saturday. I get why they did it, but it still hurts. David Tyree, the guy responsible for one of the greatest plays in Giants (let alone Super Bowl) history, will not be a part of the team this year. I know he didn’t play last year and has been injured, but I’m still going to miss the guy who set up the SB 42 win with his infamous Helmet Catch.
Good night sweet Prince, this world was never meant for someone as beautiful as you. I’ll never forget February 3, 2008! Good luck in all future endeavors, you will be greatly missed and never, ever forgotten.
In addition to Tyree’s departure, the Giants placed DT Jay Alford (torn ACL) on IR; waived DT Jeremy Clark; and traded TE Michael Matthews to the Pats for a conditional draft pick. The other 17 players who were waived by NY on Saturday are: QBs Andre Woodson and Rhett Bomar; RB Allen Patrick; FB Dwayne Wright; OL Terrence Pennington, Orrin Thompson and Cliff Louis; WR Shaun Bodiford; DL Maurice Evans, Tommie Hill, Robert Henderson and Anthony Bryant; LB Kenny Ingram; CB DeAndre Wright; and S Travonti Johsnon, Vince Anderson and Sha’reff Rashad. LB Michael Boley also won’t be able to return to the Giants facility until September 14 due to that whole suspension thing.
