On this happy Giant Friday we bring you the first news from OTA(s), which is not good news.
Profootballtalk.com is reporting that tight end Kevin Boss is set to have arthroscopic ankle surgery on his right ankle, recovery time is expected to be 4-6 weeks, which should have Boss ready for the start of training camp. I don’t know about you, but I hate to see any surgical procedure done this close to the start of camp, the question always begs whether the surgery could have been done earlier in the off season. On this one, we don’t know. what we do know about Kevin Boss is that he is one tough S.O.B. and we doubt he will be limited at the start of training camp or by the start of the season. For the Giants sake, he better not be because the likes of Pascoe or Beckum seeing any significant time during the season instead of Boss is not ideal to say the least.
And, nice that the Giants added 5th round pick Mitch Petrus and undrafted free agent Dennis Landolt for depth as Kevin Booth, the reserve guard who played well in limited time last year, has torn his pectoral muscle and will have surgery on Tuesday. With an estimated four month recovery time, Boothe is certainly headed to the P.U.P. list (hopefully he will not be joined by Kenny Philips) and he could even be placed on the dreaded I.R. list depending on his recovery time. Not good. Offensive line is an area that makes many Giants fans nervous and any injury, even to a backup player, cuts away at what little depth we have. With that said, Petrus and Landolt, come on down to a nice opportunity.
