Giants LB Analysis All About Bulluck

ESPN NY’s Ohm Youngmisuk has a linebacker analysis up today and 95% of it is Keith Bulluck related. Check this out:

Bulluck = bold
Everything else = plain

"Player to Watch: Bulluck. The Giants recently signed Bulluck to replace Antonio Pierce. Will Bulluck be fully recovered from ACL surgery last December? Wild Card: Sintim. It’s sink or swim time for the former second-round pick at strongside linebacker.Last year it was wide receiver. This year, the Giants’ biggest question mark is at linebacker. At least, it was the biggest question mark until the Giants signed Bulluck last Saturday to a one-year, $2.5 million incentive-based deal.Bulluck, 33, is a 10-year vet who is a former Pro Bowler. He brings experience and much-needed leadership to the position. The only question mark now is how his knee will hold up after he had ACL surgery on his left knee seven months ago. Bulluck says the transition from outside linebacker, where he played at for a decade for Tennessee, to middle linebacker will not be difficult since he played some middle linebacker on third downs for the Titans and was a middle linebacker at times while at Syracuse. He also explains that he largely played behind the defensive line as an outside linebacker. Bulluck says his knee is at 90-percent and that he will compete for the job against Goff, the rookie Dillard and Wilkinson, who had an outside shot to win the job before Bulluck joined the team. Blackburn also has experience and the smarts but now it appears he will spell the starters. Bulluck will likely be the starter barring a setback. Boley was banged up last season and the healthy weakside linebacker will need to step up and flourish in Fewell’s system."

I just think it’s funny indicator… not that it isn’t warranted or anything, but it’s a serious sign that our hopes and expectations for the Giants LB productivity are now tied completely and utterly to Bulluck making a world of difference in that unit.  Boley and Sintim will probably start beside KB, and I think they’re very capable players that will nicely round out the front 7 of the Giants defense.
