Tuesday Afternoon Injury Updates

Mike Garafolo of the Star-Ledger has posted some disappointing news about a certain young rookie WR sustaining a knee injury this afternoon in practice:

"WR Hakeem Nicks, already dealing with a toe issue, tweaked his knee late in practice. The team said Nicks hyper-extended the joint, which means it was bent the opposite way it’s supposed to bend. Nicks will undergo an MRI Tuesday night.Nicks was able to walk under his own power but was carted off to the locker room."

A similar report followed Domenik Hixon’s injury earlier this spring during OTAs, Hixon of course ended up suffering a season ending ACL injury.

Shaun O’hara also went back to NYC to get some further tests done on his injured ankle, and the latest news is that there is no significant damage for the Giants center. Reports say that O’hara suffers from a chronic joint condition and it has induced swelling that is limiting his movement.  The time off should do him well.

In other injury news, the following players all sat out of afternoon practice today:

WR Mario Manningham (groin)
TE Travis Beckum (hamstring)
S Kenny Phillips (knee)
OL Kevin Boothe (pectoral)
