7:56 pmIt did come against second-teamers, but DE Osi Umenyiora got such good penetration that he nearly got his hand on the ball as QB Jim Sorgi was handing it off. Umenyiora looked very fast tonight.
7:47 pmOnce again, WR Derek Hagan found himself in a shoving match. Earlier in the week it was CB Bruce Johnson who got into it with Hagan, and on Wednesday evening it was S Michael Johnson. The frays seem to occur when Hagan is asked to run block.
7:36 pmAs S Kenny Phillips returned to the sidelines after breaking up a long pass from QB Jim Sorgi to WR Victor Cruz , his fellow safeties greeted him with cheers of “Superman.” Phillips earned the nickname before injuring his knee and missing most of the 2009 season.
7:26 pmThe field goal drill was uneventful except for one low snap from LS Zak DeOssie.  K Lawrence Tynes was 5-for-5, and hit from as far as 50 yards away.
7:14 pmThe Giants are still being cautious with S Kenny Phillips (knee). He usually works two plays before moving off to the sideline. Meanwhile, LB Keith Bulluck (knee) hasn’t been limited during his one practice per day.
6:55 pmOG Chris Snee is getting treatment on his swollen knee and won’t practice Wednesday night.
6:40 pmOG Rich Seubert, who had his left hand in a cast, and C Shaun O’Hara, who’s coming off an ankle injury, both practiced snapping with QB Eli Manning.
6:27 pmTE Kevin Boss (ankle, hamstring), TE Travis Beckum (hamstring), CB Corey Webster (glute), TE Jake Ballard (hamstring), TE Scott Chandler (hip flexor), WR Steve Smith (groin), WR Sinorice Moss (groin) and OG Kevin Boothe (pectoral) aren’t participating in Wednesday evening’s practice.
11:58 amTE Kevin Boss is frustrated by his injuries, and said that he may have aggravated his hamstring while compensating for his ankle. “I kind of tweaked the hamstring a little bit,” he said. He didn’t know when he can return, but admitted that he put a little pressure on the training staff to let him do so.
11:48 amWR Hakeem Nicks (toe, knee) told CBSsports.com that he will practice this afternoon.
11:47 amOG Rich Seubert said the cast on his left hand has one negative effect. “We don’t hold,” he said. “But we like to grab.” Seubert did not like his first cast, so a new one will be made for him before his next practice.
11:41 amDT Chris Canty‘s formerly injured calf feels great, and he credits the platelate-rich plasma therapy he received last season. “I would recommend it to anyone,” he said. Defensive coordinator Perry Fewell has used Canty in multiple fronts, but Canty said, “Learning the defense is not the problem.”
11:25 amOG Chris Snee said he missed Wednesday morning’s practice because of “camp soreness.” He had his knee wrapped earlier and said he will continue to ice the joint. He is unsure if he can participate in Wednesday evening’s practice.
11:00 amEssentially the team’s lone, healthy tight end, Bear Pascoe has proved to be a reliable target during training camp. He’s also shown great conditioning. Coughlin has offered Pascoe a rest more than once, but the second-year player out of Fresno State has politely declined.
10:57 amCoach Tom Coughlin has been pleased with DT Chris Canty and pointed out that the former Virginia Cavalier was at the team’s practice facility “nearly every single day” during the offseason.
10:54 amCoach Tom Coughlin joked that he doesn’t need any of his injured TEs as long as WR Victor Cruz is around. Cruz made several impressive grabs in Wednesday morning’s practice, including a one-handed catch that was later ruled “out of bounds.”
10:46 amCoach Tom Coughlin said OG Chris Snee missed practice with swelling in his knee.
10:05 amOG Guy Whimper and rookie OG Mitch Petrus are getting starts with the first team because of the recent injuries to OG Rich Seubert and OG Chris Snee.
9:46 amThe secondary had been burned a few times this morning, but CB Aaron Ross just took an errant pass from QB Eli Manning in for a touchdown. Ross has seen time with the first team in CB Corey Webster‘s (glute) absence.
9:28 amRookie DE Jason Pierre-Paul has joined DE Mathias Kiwanuka, DE Justin Tuck and DE Dave Tollefson in the Giants’ four-defensive end front. DE Osi Umenyiora (hip) also made an appearance, suggestion he could do some work in Wednesday morning’s practice.
9:08 amDE Osi Umenyiora (hip) and OG Chris Snee are also not practicing this morning. Umenyiora has been practicing just once a day. Wednesday is the last two-a-day session for the Giants.
9:07 amOG Rich Seubert is practicing with a pad over his injured left hand.
9:06 amTE Kevin Boss (hamstring), TE Jake Ballard , TE Travis Beckum (hamstring), TE Scott Chandler (hip flexor), WR Steve Smith (groin), WR Sinorice Moss (groin), DT Jay Alford (knee), WR Hakeem Nicks (toe, knee), CB Corey Webster (glute) and S Kenny Phillips (knee) aren’t practicing.
