Today’s report may look short to you, and that’s because it is. Practice was cut due to impending weather today, but Tom Coughlin stuck around to answer some questions.

5:15 pm | Coach Tom Coughlin said WR Tim Brown has been dealing with groin and hamstring issues while S Michael Johnson missed practice because of a sore back. Coughlin admitted that he was surprised Johnson wasn’t active. |
4:38 pm | CB Terrell Thomas ended practice with a wrap on his knee and WR Derek Hagan was holding his head after a fall. Coach Tom Coughlin said Thomas has had leg issues and Hagan seemed fine after he got back on his feet. |
4:03 pm | LB Clint Sintim and CB Seth Williams have each intercepted passes off deflections. Williams, an undrafted rookie out of Richmond, has been quiet so far in camp after having an impressive minicamp. |
3:49 pm | Playing with the first-team offensive line, OG Guy Whimper easily tossed DT Barry Cofield to the ground. Cofield was slow to get up after the play, but did jog off the field. |
3:00 pm | WR Steve Smith (groin), WR Sinorice Moss (groin), TE Kevin Boss (hamstring, ankle) and TE Travis Beckum (hamstring) are not in pads and OG Chris Snee (knee) has not made an appearance at Thursday evening’s practice. |
2:44 pm | CB Corey Webster (glute) and S Michael Johnson are not practicing, while S Kenny Phillips (knee) is in full pads. LB Clint Sintim is practicing as well, but his left calf is wrapped. Thursday afternoon’s practice could be shortened due to weather. |
12:26 pm | LT Will Beatty said the coaching staff has given no indication that he will be a starter. If he does start, LT David Diehl likely would move to guard. |
12:25 pm | LT Will Beatty has drawn the ire of coaches because of mental mistakes. Beatty on line coach Pat Flaherty: “He is just getting me ready for that starting spot. It’s good that he’s noticing me and not letting me slip through the cracks.” |
12:14 pm | GM Jerry Reese on injuries at TE: “Our coaches will make adjustments. We’ll play one of our offensive lineman at tight end some. We’ll go to four-wide, five-wide. Whatever we have to to get through the game.” |
11:48 am | CB Terrell Thomas is rooting for Jets CB Darrelle Revis, who is holding out. “I hope he gets every bit of it because I’m coming up soon,” Thomas said, adding that the absence of guaranteed contracts is a factor. “When you’re at the top of your game, you’ve got to get paid.” |
11:47 am | CB Terrell Thomas on the one of the highlights of camp — the battle between the receivers and the cornerbacks. “We talk our mess and we like to battle. It makes us better. They’re all different (types of receivers), so that works our weaknesses.” |
11:39 am | WR Steve Smith (groin) doesn’t think he’ll play in the preseason opener against the Jets. He hopes to return to practice next week. |
11:38 am | WR Steve Smith said an MRI taken on his injured groin early in the week revealed a muscle strain. He said it also showed some minor hip problems, but he’s been aware of those since last season. |
