Even though Eli Manning has gone on the record as saying he feels good after suffering some hard knocks the required a dozen stitches the other night, the Giants starting QB will likely sit out against the Steelers Saturday night.
"“I was a little worried last night but no headache, no concussion of any sort. My body, my mind, my head all feels really good. All day I’ve been getting tests done and just making sure there is no further damage to my brain or to my skull and everything looks fine. That’s all good news."
Tom Coughlin has expressed concern that without a well fitting helmet over Mannings healed stitches, Eli would likely have to continue resting this weekend. Manning begrudgingly agreed, but like any competitor he can’t stand the idea of sitting out while he ‘feels’ he could be playing.
"They haven’t given me an exact time frame of when I will be back but I have a feeling I might be out there this upcoming week trying to get these stitches healed up and my forehead healed. I don’t know when I will be able to put a helmet on. I might have to bring out an old leather helmet to get some practice in this week because I don’t want to be sitting around doing nothing when I feel I can play.”"
My feeling is, we know what Eli brings to the table. I’d like to guarantee him health and see more of what Sorgi and Bomar can do for the Giants and iron out some of the kinks.
