Accuscore.com has posted the Giants regular season projections for 2010, and according to the crunched numbers they will finish behind the Dallas Cowboys for 2nd place in the Beast.

The Giants obviously were not as good as their 5-0 start indicated, but they probably were not as bad as their 3-8 finish indicated. AccuScore’s pre-draft forecast has the Giants winning over 50% of their games but a key will be Brandon Jacobs bouncing back from a poor season. The concern obviously is that bruising RBs do not often get healthier and better after 5 or 6 years. South Florida had a talented defense but did not dominate the Big East. If Jason Pierre-Paul could not help South Florida dominate the Big East, it would be safe to assume that he would not have had much of an impact in a top-tier conference like the SEC. He may be a physical freak and physical freaks can get 10+ sacks, but there is no proof that his 10+ sacks will help the Giants become a Top 5 defense again. Julius Peppers averaged double digit sacks and the Panthers have been a below average defense most years he ‘starred’ in Carolina. The best way for the Giants to improve was to rejuvenate their offensive line and re-establish their dominant running game. We feel a second round pick like Toby Gerhart would have had a bigger first year impact than the Giants first 2 picks will make. That said, the Giants did improve after the draft with a +5.8 percent increase in winning the NFC East.
