"After kicker Lawrence Tynes struggled to make it through Saturday morning’s walk-through, the Giants signed veteran kicker Shayne Graham and placed rookie wide receiver Victor Cruz on injured reserve.…Graham, a 2005 Pro Bowler, has connected on 85.2 percent of his field-goal attempts during nine seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, Carolina Panthers and Buffalo Bills. In 2009, the Bengals placed the franchise tag on Graham. That meant he was paid the average salary of the top five kickers, a testimony to his efficiency with the Bengals. He signed a one-year deal worth a reported $2.5 million with the Baltimore Ravens in June, although he was beat out by Billy Cundiff after the preseason.…Cruz, who was a preseason sensation with the Giants, strained his hamstring Monday while running sprints. He said Friday he’ll “definitely be back in there with the guys” next week, but that won’t be the case now that he’s on injured reserve. The Giants did not give Cruz a “minor” designation, which would have indicated he’d be waived when healthy. That means the team plans on keeping Cruz on IR all season."
