Draft Week: Top OL Candidates

4 of 8

Nate Solder

OT, Colorado

Solder has a huge frame at 6-8, and that will work both for and against his cause.  At Tackle, he is going to face both big/bruising DE’s that can push him back into the pocket as well as smaller, quicker players that are going to get him off balance.  He’s going to be a project player but his work ethic will pay off for him.  The Giants unquestionably have one of the best offensive line staff’s around, but are they up to the challenge of this particular project?

Measurables: 6-8, ~317 , 40 time 5.05

Key Words: size, strength, intelligence, agile, work ethic, athletic, moves well

Excels At: lateral movement, adjustments and recovering when beat, sealing off defenders, getting to the second level, pass/run blocking, best fit at Right Tackle

Needs To Work On: consistent footwork and technique, finishing, balance and leverage (height may be an issue)
